Award-winning Planet Wobble is an exciting and innovative new series of materials for early readers and writers. Perfect for English language learners too!

“The range and quantity of computer activities enables all the children to benefit from working to their own potential and at their own level.” Jo Cummings, Technology Coordinator, Trial School, UK

Planet Wobble series of Clicker Powered CD-ROMs and printed books

These animated talking books and related onscreen activities are firmly rooted in current educational literacy strategies and provide an additional classroom resource for early reading and writing skills. The full colour printed books enable the materials to be used away from the computer too.

Planet Wobble is quite like Earth, but everything is a little different, meaning that children from any background can relate to the stories. These follow the adventures of Stan, Josh, Amber, Holly, Ella and Dan, who take part in the kind of activities enjoyed by children everywhere.

Progress is provided through four levels and 21 wonderfully illustrated stories, with more books on the way. The stories are designed to develop independence in reading by reinforcing high frequency words and using simple sentence structure. Each one is provided onscreen, with speech and animation, as well as in a printed book.

Alongside the onscreen books, activities are also provided which are based on specific literacy objectives. These activities are differentiated, enabling children of all abilities to use them. They offer practice and reinforcement suitable for both group and individual work. And, as you’d expect from a product powered by Clicker 4 or Clicker 5, the products are completely switch accessible.

The differentiated activities in Planet Wobble include:

  • Matching
These activities encourage children to look for patterns in the context of the story, from simple picture and word matching.
  • Listen and match
Students listen carefully to sentences from the story and choose the relevant picture. As they work through the activity they build up a picture sequence to retell the story.

  • Sentences
Sentence building activities enable students to write sentences from the stories. They can hear and see a model before writing and hear their sentences read back to them.
  • Words
Based on vocabulary from the stories, these activities encourage children to recognise and spell words they will meet in the books.
  • Screenshots of Planet Wobble onscreen books

  • Questions
Designed to encourage children to understand and respond to questions about the story.
  • Writing stories
Pre-prepared Clicker Grids enable children to compose their own stories based on the theme of the book. The provided grid sets are differentiated, offering relevant level of support.
  • Make your own books
The book is set up without text, enabling you to write stories with your children.

These activities make Planet Wobble a wonderful resource for your classroom and perfect for English language learners too!

Planet Wobble is the winner of the 2003 SEN Primary BETT (British Education Training and Technology) award.
