AlphaQuiz SmartApplet System is an integrated classroom quiz solution including quiz design, delivery, automatic grading, reporting and analysis. It provides teachers with a flexibility for creating quizzes anytime, anywhere from any computer (Macintosh or Windows). Support for four question types (true/false, multiple choice, short answer and essay) lets teachers tailor quizzes to meet curriculum needs. Automated grading with QuizManager corrects an entire class of quizzes instantly for all question types except essay.

AlphaQuiz SmartApplet stores up to four quizzes on each AlphaSmart device, so teachers can give quizzes on multiple subjects or topics. Flexible reporting and analysis enable teachers to quickly assess student performance and pinpoint problem areas. Up to eight students can share a single AlphaSmart device for taking quizzes, while preserving files used for word processing tasks.

Introducing AlphaSmart SmartOption

AlphaSmart’s SmartOption product line, based on the AlphaHub, adds a new dimension to the management and configuration of NEOs and AlphaSmart 3000s. By allowing you to work with up to 30 devices simultaneously, AlphaHub streamlines the exchange of quizzes and student responses between AlphaSmart devices and a classroom computer running QuizManager. This allows you to give a quiz and get the graded results in record time, using QuizManager’s auto-grading capabilities, so that your students get instant feedback on their mastery of curriculum material. AlphaHub also provides electrical power through its USB connection cables so AlphaSmart devices don’t consume their internal battery power while quizzes are being sent to them or responses retrieved. SmartOption capabilities make working with the AlphaQuiz SmartApplet System easier, faster, and more rewarding for the whole class.

SmartOption capabilities, other than battery charging, require a USB-capable computer.

System Requirements

• AlphaQuiz SmartApplet requires AlphaSmart 3000 or 3000 IR with System 3 operating system or NEO by AlphaSmart
• QuizDesigner and the AlphaQuiz Updater require Macintosh OS version 7.6.1 or later, or Windows 95 or later
• QuizManager requires Macintosh OS 8.6 or later and USB, or Windows 98SE or later and USB. Use with Mac OS X requires AlphaHub (direct USB communications currently not supported under Mac OS X)
• QuizDesigner and QuizManager Help systems require a Web browser
