With Boardmaker Building Blocks, it’s easy to meet the needs of individual learners. Each activity comes in three formats:

Activities address:

• Vocabulary and Abstract Concepts
  
  • Alike: Learners choose two pictures out of a row of three to five that belong in the same category
    
  • Different: Learners find the picture that is different in a row of three to five pictures
    
  • Opposites: Learners are shown a picture and must choose its opposite from two other pictures
    
  • Sorting: Learners sort pictures into four category boxes
    
  • Doesn’t Belong: Learners are presented with five pictures and must find the one that doesn’t belong
    
  • Hidden Objects: Learners find pictures out of context in a Boardmaker Background scene. Pictures of the hidden objects are presented to guide the learner.
  
  
• Phonic Skills and Awareness
  
  • ABC: Learners match capital letters with corresponding lowercase letters
    
  • Letter Discovery: Learners are challenged to find all of the pictures on a Boardmaker Background screen that start with a specific letter
    
  • Rhyming: Learners are shown three pictures and must choose the two that rhyme with one another
  
  
• Sentence Building
  
  • Who and What: Learners choose pictures that go with a community worker.
    
  • How: Learners are shown the result of an event. Presented with two other pictures, learners must choose which one shows how the event might have happened
    
  • When: Learners are shown an event. Presented with two other pictures, learners must choose when the event happened
    
  • Where: Learners are shown an event. Presented with two other pictures, learners must choose where the event might have happened
    
  • Why: Learners are shown an event. Presented with two other pictures, learners must choose why the larger picture might have happened
    
  • What Comes Next: Learners sequence action pictures in the order that they would naturally occur
