Available in both onscreen and printed formats, these books and activities are ideal for literacy teaching and for complementing existing classroom practice

Clicker Books: left-to-right, the Daisy, Archie, and Gamba series

The books are provided both onscreen and in print. The first series follows the adventures of Daisy and her dinosaur friend. The second series follows a boy called Archie and some dragons from the school next door. The third series is about a gnu called Gamba! There is also an Alliterative Stories series, featuring Andy’s Animals, Bo’s Book and Willow’s Walk, and there is also a Clicker Book by Alison Jarred and Nadja Roelofs called At The River.

Ideal Clicker resources for every classroom, this growing library includes printed as well as onscreen books and activities. Designed to complement existing classroom practice, these resources are ideal for literacy teaching. There is an extensive range of activities which are linked to key literacy targets at word, sentence and text level. They can be used with the whole class, for group work or during individual computer time.

The onscreen books can be used as a big book on a whiteboard for the whole class. The printed books can be used for guided reading, or to add to the school library. The activities include spelling, punctuation, sentence building and comprehension. Many of these activities can be printed out and used as paper-based activities away from the computer. The “Make a Book” feature of all the Clicker Books is an ideal extension activity.

On the CD, in addition to the full version of the story, there is also an easier “Read It Yourself” version. This picks out the main points of the stories and is retold in simple sentences so that young readers can read independently.

Other series of Clicker Books include:

  • Find Out and Write About – The unique Find Out and Write About series for Clicker provides a range of multimedia CDs ideal for literacy teaching. Early readers of all ages can research the non-fiction material and then use the associated writing grids to write about what they have learnt.

  • Planet Wobble – These animated talking books and related onscreen activities are firmly rooted in current educational literacy strategies and provide an additional classroom resource for early reading and writing skills. The full colour printed books enable the materials to be used away from the computer too.

  • Trackers for Clicker – These fiction books from Oxford’s new Trackers structured reading series. Trackers For Clicker is particularly suitable for struggling or reluctant readers, and for English language learners.

All Clicker Books and Powered by Clicker products are switch accessible.
