IntelliTools has created a keyboard that’s flexible enough to meet a wide variety of learning needs. Unlike the keyboard on your computer, you can change the way IntelliKeys looks and functions by sliding in different overlays. To get you started, IntelliKeys comes with six standard overlays that are ready to use with any word processing program or software that has keyboard input.

The IntelliKeys “Classic” is the original IntelliKeys keyboard – and still your best choice for Windows or Macintosh computers which do not have USB ports. It is also the choice for computers running Windows 95 and older Macintosh Operating Systems (earlier than Mac OS 8.6) as the new USB IntelliKeys is not compatible with these platforms.

Six Standard Overlays to get you started
Standard overlays feature large, well-spaced keys in high contrast colours to make it easy for students to locate letters and numbers. Each represents a different keyboard configuration to facilitate physical and cognitive access.

Customise Settings for Your Students
A special set-up overlay allows you to customise settings such as the response or repeat rate to greatly ease access for students who tend to press unwanted keys or keep their finger on a key too long.

IntelliKeys is a convenient and flexible switch interface and works with a wide variety of switch software. It’s an ideal tool for integrating your switch user with IntelliKeys and mouse users.

Create Custom Activities
IntelliKeys becomes an even more powerful communication tool when you design your own curriculum activities and custom overlays using Overlay Maker, IntelliTalk, IntelliPics, and ClickIt!

Use with Commercial Software for IntelliKeys
You can also use IntelliKeys with a growing number of commercial software programs made by IntelliTools and other publishers. These programs come with printed overlays that work automatically when you load the software.

IntelliKeys USB is the Solution for Windows 2000 and Windows XP

• IntelliTools products running under Windows 2000 or Windows XP will not be able to send overlays to older IntelliKeys hardware. Customers using computers with Windows 2000 or XP operating systems wishing to send overlays will require an USB IntelliKeys

System Requirements for Windows

• Win 95/98 or ME
• Minimum of a 386 Processor with an AT or PS/2 Keyboard Port
• Minimum of DOS 6.0 Operating System – but is NOT compatible with Windows 2000 or Windows XP
• No Hard Disk space required
• No RAM requirement

System Requirements for Macintosh

• Minimum of an Apple IIGS with an ADB Keyboard Port
• Minimum Operating System of Mac OS 6.07 – 8.05
  Not Compatible with OS X – for OSX IntelliKeys USB is required
• No Hard Disk space required
• No RAM requirement
• For Macintosh computers with USB ports, you require both the ADB/Macintosh IntelliKeys cable and the Griffin iMate USB to ADB adapter. See the Tech Tips Section of this web site for further details about the iMate Adapter and sources of supply in Australia. Alternatively, you may consider purchase of the new USB IntelliKeys for use with an iMac or G3 Mac, as it plugs directly into the USB Port on these computers and does not require that an iMate adapter be used.

Note: These system requirements are for using the standard overlays that come with the IntelliKeys. When using other custom IntelliKeys overlays, the system requirements for specific software must be met.
