Three stories from the original R.A.P.S. book come to life in this multimedia CD with over 100 supporting activities!
Over a hundred activities support three stories from the printed book Reading Activities Project for older Students (R.A.P.S.), originally developed by Southwest Human Development and edited by Dr. Caroline Musselwhite.
The three stories supported on the CD include:
- Cash For Trash
- Looking Great
- and Pizza Today
Each of the core stories has at least 30 associated computer activities organised into four sets based upon a balanced literacy approach. The activity sets are:
- Guided Reading (story retelling displays)
- Self-Selected Silent Reading (easy stories or poems)
- Writing (Invitations, Thank-you letters, poems)
- Word Study (Making words, Word building)
In addition to these computer activities, a folder of Raps Extras is filled with a wealth of off-computer activities and other materials including assessment activities, comprehension activities, pull-off symbols, communications displays, song boards, light tech versions of the activities, teaching strategies, and more.
Activities run on the IntelliTools Classroom Suite Player 3 (included on the CD-ROM for older computers such as Windows XP and Vista). You can extend or modify the activities if you own a copy of IntelliTools Classroom Suite, or IntelliPics Studio 3/IntelliTalk 3, and in addition, data collection will be available. Activities are switch accessible and can be used with IntelliKeys USB. Overlay Maker 3 is required to edit included overlays (trial version can be used to print the included overlays.)
Grade level: Students age 8 and up who are at the emergent literacy level.
R.A.P.S. #1 also includes lesson plans to aid in encouraging as much student independence as possible.
