Communication display boards to encourage speech
Over 75 Speaking Dynamically and Boardmaker displays to:
- Encourage speech
- Improve listening skills
- Increase basic vocabulary
- Practise speech production
The 77 boards in this set were developed by the parent of a girl with expressive aphasia under the guidance of a speech and language pathologist. Each board includes words grouped by phonemes, the sounds that make up words. They are designed to be listened to and repeated back to encourage speech.
The user is given control over the activity to increase motivation. The program can be set up for scanning and is fully switch accessible.
Boards and icons can be personalised by editing the image associated with a word, or including the names of pets, family and friends with their pictures. You can also track the frequency with which a student selects a particular button.
The boards are also included as Boardmaker files for larger pictures and colour printouts that can be used in other activities described in the manual, such as concentration games or colouring.
TIPS Use See, Hear and Say to:
- stimulate speech output of words beginning with “l”
- promote the verbal production of “sl” in words
