Using Visual Connectors and Question Maps in the Classroom provides explanations and examples on how to use the two processes of Visual Connectors and Question Maps for identifying Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) systems in the classroom environment. These AAC systems will facilitate the development of communication, literacy and positive behaviours in a variety of classroom activities.

The manual contains explanations on how to identify communication skill building opportunities within any given activity and ideas on creating the appropriate communication AAC support. Information on how to link the various types of AAC support are provided. Examples for activities include:

  • within the classroom environment – e.g. morning circle
  • outdoor activities – e.g. going to the gym
  • community activities – e.g. going to McDonald’s, etc.
